Two Sisters and a Piano

Dos hermanas y un piano

Two Sisters and a Piano

Written and Directed by Nilo Cruz

This play portrays two sisters, María Celia, a novelist, and Sofía, a pianist, who are serving sentences under house arrest. Passion infiltrates politics when a lieutenant assigned to his case falls in love with María Celia, whose literature he has been reading. Two sisters and a piano – according to Nilo Cruz, its author – “… evokes the power of art, of literature. It is inspired by the Scherezada of The Thousand and One Nights, which stops the killings of a vindictive Sultan telling stories.”
